“Take the boat into deep water, and reduced your nets to catch
some fish” (Luke five:four). We want to go deeper with God, if we are to bring
other people to Him. We see this in the ministry of Jesus – “Significant crowds
gathered to hear Him and have their illnesses cured. But He would go away
to locations exactly where He could be alone for prayer” (Luke five:15-16).
God, he (the healed man) went house” (Luke five:25). “Absolutely everyone was amazed
and praised God” (Luke five:26). A single man praising God, a lot of individuals praising
God – praise leads to far more praise. Private praise and corporate praise
– we want each: praise that arises in my heart when I consider of all that
the Lord has carried out for me, praise that grows stronger when I collect
with each other, with other people, for worship.
“Why do you consume and drink with
tax collectors and sinners? ” (Luke five:30). The Lord’s Supper is for
sinners. When we sit with the Lord, at His Table, what we’re saying is
this: ‘I’m a sinner. I want a Saviour.’ What does Jesus say to us? He
says, ‘Yes. You are a sinner – and Yes. I am your Saviour.’ This is Great
News – the Great News of salvation. Jesus says, “I’ve come to get in touch with
sinners to adjust the way they consider and act” (Luke five:32). When Jesus
calls us to Himself, He does not leave us the way He located us. He alterations
us – from the inside, to the outdoors.
The contrast among the
old and the new – What are we to take from these parables (Luke
five:33-39)? In the spiritual life, it really is the new life that is superior than
the old life. when we have begun to reside the new life in Christ, the old
life loses its attraction. We’re understanding to see points by means of the
eyes of Christ – to need far more of Him, and much less of the globe, far more of
the new life, and much less of the old life.
