“…Why do you appear for the living amongst the dead? He is not right here He has risen! Try to remember how He told you, though He was nevertheless with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man ought to be delivered more than to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised once again.’” Luke 24:five-7
This week we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus collectively at our Easter solutions! It was the sweetest morning as we worshipped and stood in the victory and life we are provided due to the fact of Jesus. Lead pastor Carl Gulley shared a message centered about the story of Jonah. Even though it appears like a non-conventional Easter message, the story of Jonah prophetically points to Jesus.
We spent most of our morning in Jonah 1-three. The Lord asks Jonah to go to Nineveh, a spot that is complete of destruction and wickedness. To Jonah, this request tends to make no sense. Nonetheless right now, God will unapologetically ask us to do factors that do not make sense in the starting but will in the end lead to life.
Jonah disobeys, runs in the opposite path and finds himself in the belly of a whale for 3 days. It would be fair to say that Jonah got what he deserved, and his story could have ended inside the whale. In his desperation, Jonah cries out to God and the Lord delivers him.
Our story likely appears a lot like Jonah’s. We can locate ourselves feeling hopeless, stuck and in require of a Savior.
JESUS IS THAT SAVIOR.
“because just as Jonah was in the stomach of the sea creature for 3 days and 3 nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights… But appear – anything higher than Jonah is right here.” Matthew 12:40 – 41
Jesus willingly went to the cross and died for our sins. But the story didn’t finish there. He not only took on all of our mess, but He overcame by increasing from the dead right after 3 days. We are now invited to stand in victory with Jesus, completely forgiven and produced clean.
FORGIVENESS Adjustments THE GAME FOR Every person.
This is the purpose we celebrate! We celebrate our risen Savior who provides us hope and brings us from death to life.
