This year I’m combining the Tear Drop Spiral Template with a every day devotional named Lent for Absolutely everyone: Luke, Year C: A Day-to-day Devotional by N.T. Wright. In quite a few liturgical churches, the Gospel readings for the Sundays of Lent this year (Year C in a 3-year cycle) are from Luke. Wright’s devotional requires a every day modest chunk of Luke and goes by means of the complete Gospel for the duration of the Lenten season.

Every single day I study the passage from the Gospel of Luke and Wright’s reflection on it. From either the gospel or the reflection I pick a word that jumps out at me. In some cases the selection may well need far more than 1 reading. Then I create the word in a space on the calendar. Yesterday’s word was seed. I wrote it in the beginning tear drop dated March six. On a separate piece of paper I wrote the word seed and began brainstorming about the word. I contact this a information dump. I wrote down every little thing that came to thoughts when I believed of seedno editing. What I create about a word may well be silly or critical: I’m just clearing my thoughts of all preconceived tips to make area for new ones.

When I really feel empty, I quit writing and commence doodling about the word of the day. The doodling can be abstract or realistic. It does not matter. But I quit overt “thinking” and just listen to the word. “What does it have to say to me nowadays? What may well God be saying to me by means of this word?”  I doodle and colour and attempt to get nonetheless on the inside. For me, this is taking a single word and praying it, or letting it pray in me.

If words, phrases, or feelings come to me whilst I’m drawing, I create them down—on the identical web page as prior to or on a new web page (or even on the calendar). When I finish drawing, I may well sit with the word/drawing or appear at the brainstorm web page once again. In some cases insights come often silence and quiet are adequate. Time spent with the selected word and with God aids to frame my complete day. I adore this uncomplicated, day-by-day approach of staying in touch with God and orienting my outlook on life.

Child was my word for Day two.

It is not as well late to download a template. See the March four or February 15 post.
