Currently I attended a sermon exactly where the pastor referenced Luke 17:11-19 and looked at the gratitude of the 1 of 10 lepers who turned back and fell at the feet of Jesus, praising God. Whilst this is a terrific instance of thankfulness and gratitude, it speaks to a significantly bigger notion in my spirit.

When this verse was study aloud I felt a stirring that pointed to one thing extra. I see 10 lepers sent to the priests and had been healed along the way. The customs of the Hebrews had been focused on the priest as their hyperlink to God as the priests explained the laws of the Old Testament. Then when they are all healed, the Samaritan or “the foreigner” as Jesus says, turns back and falls at the feet of Christ. Jesus inquires exactly where the other folks are. Some men and women may perhaps see a single grateful man and nine that are not as grateful. I on the other hand, see nine Hebrew guys caught up in the customs of the law and a single outsider who sees Christ as the supply and returns to Him in gratitude. He recognized Jesus as the ‘great Higher Priest’ of the book of Hebrews. Quite a few Christians get caught up in religion, in man’s try to attain and/or please God. What I see in this brief excerpt from Luke is God reaching down to His men and women by way of His Son and our Savior Jesus and Jesus recognizing that the a single who returned to give thanks to God at the feet of the Messiah was the a single who’s faith produced him nicely.

Do not appear to religion, appear to Christ Himself. Come across your healing at the foot of the cross in private connection with your Savior. Your faith tends to make you nicely.

Considering that then we have a higher priest who has passed by way of the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold rapidly to our confession. For we do not have a higher priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but a single who in each respect has been tempted as we are, however with no sin. Let us then with self-assurance draw close to to the throne of grace, that we may perhaps obtain mercy and uncover grace to enable in time of require. (Hebrews four:14-16)
