Absolutely everyone has an implicit worldview—a basic orientation of the heart expressed in assumptions about reality, and most persons have an explicit theology—conscious beliefs expressed in stated propositions. The mixture of worldview and theology is what constitutes a religion. Expressed in this way, all persons have a religion, regardless of whether they acknowledge it or not. Even atheists have a religion their worldview consists of an assumption that only matter is actual, combined with a theology that denies the existence of God. This produces an atheist religion that impacts almost everything about how they reside and interact in society.
Therefore, even though believers and unbelievers may perhaps occasionally hold to related assumptions about the nature of reality, due to the fact their theologies are fundamentally unique, biblical religion and non-biblical religion are usually antithetical to 1 an additional. The Bible teaches that stark enmity exists involving God and the globe, involving belief and unbelief. There is no neutrality involving God and the globe, a disparity articulated clearly in passages such as James four:four and 1 John two:25:
Do you not know that friendship with the globe is enmity with God? Thus whoever wishes to be a pal of the globe tends to make himself an enemy of God.
Do not really like the globe or the issues in the globe. If everyone loves the globe, the really like of the Father is not in him.
This biblical idea of “the world” refers to the religion—a mixture of worldview and theology—of this present sinful age that is ruled by Satan. It is a worth method that is actively hostile to God and alienated from God. The globe about us is not neutral it is ruled by “the prince of the energy of the air” (Eph two:two) who is the “god of this world” (two Cor four:four). It is human atmosphere left to itself.
Biblical religion, on the other hand, requires the formation of a worldview and theology in accordance with the Word of God. Conscious belief in the truths of Scripture—most importantly what it teaches about God’s goal for his creation, the reality of sin and judgment, and forgiveness located in the atonement of Jesus Christ—reorients the believer’s heart toward God, motivating him to reside in accordance with God’s will for his glory.
Discussions of worldview, theology, and religion can typically look abstract and irrelevant to the sensible problems of life, but absolutely nothing could be additional from the truth. Our underlying assumptions combined with our beliefs regarding God and the goal of life—our religion—affects almost everything about us: what we worth, exactly where we uncover which means and goal, how we interact with others—everything regarding our life in this globe.
