This morning, as I was reflecting on the readings for today’s Mass, I was struck by a message that was repeated in each the 1st reading (Isaiah) and the epistle (Philippians):
“Remember not the events of the previous,
the factors of lengthy ago contemplate not
see, I am carrying out anything new!”
~ and ~
“Just one particular issue: forgetting what lies behind
but straining forward to what lies ahead,
I continue my pursuit toward the aim,
the prize of God’s upward calling, in Christ Jesus.”
I have been praying about a complicated predicament, asking for some alter, some relief. It was fascinating that each of these readings seemed to lend me some guarantee of the “newness” for which I have been asking.
May well God be carrying out “something new” in me, in my life? Time will inform! In the meantime, I guess I’m known as to renewed trust, to renewed really like, every day.
As we see the snow recede and delight in the potential to go outdoors with no a winter jacket, this sense of anticipation, of new life just on the horizon, touches our physical planet as effectively.
I pray that these final weeks of Lent and the coming festivities of Easter might be a time of renewal for you and for me as we day-to-day seek His “upward calling.”
