“Not everybody who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one particular who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Several will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name carry out lots of miracles?’ Then I will inform them plainly, ‘I never ever knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” (Matthew 7:21-23)
Does God know us? Does not He know every thing? Though He surely does know everything–He is omniscient, apparently He does not know every singleone particular.
The Scripture above is amongst the scariest of all. Jesus goes on from there to inform us that lots of who are presently well-known in the Christian culture will not be the ones we see honored in heaven. In truth, they are the ones in danger of not even creating it by way of the gates. They themselves will be as flabbergasted as the rest of us.
On the other hand, these who are obscure in our Christian culture, these to whom fame has not been granted, are the ones much more most likely to be well-known in Heaven. It does not imply, of course, that every single individual who enjoys fame in our society is disqualified from honor in Heaven. It just signifies that becoming identified on earth does not necessarily imply we are identified by the A single who matters most. Becoming identified by God is a thing altogether diverse.
I consider of my dear pal Diana, a retired specific wants educator, who spends her whole morning each day worshipping God and interceding for those the Lord puts upon her heart. I daresay, God knows her nicely.
I consider of my beloved neighbor Patsy, who gets up lengthy just before dawn to pray. She’s not a celebrity right here, but in Heaven I think about she is nicely-identified, heeded, and honored. Presently brief in stature each actually and figuratively, but in Heaven, she will be head-and-shoulders taller than most of us.
Who will be featured on God’s Red Carpet?
Only these whom He knows. Once more, this begs the query: why does not God know everyone? Is not He all-recognizing?
You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me…
Search me, God, and know my heart
test me and know my anxious thoughts. (Psalm 139:1,23)
Possibly enabling God to know us only occurs when we give Him access. David’s prayer is an invitation to be identified by God. Just like reading Eric Metaxas does not make Eric Metaxas know me, studying the Bible aids me know God, but does not permit God know to me. For me to get to know Eric Metaxas would call for spending time with Eric Metaxas. I would have to have to be granted access into His life, make an appointment with him, and persevere till adequate time was spent in order for him to comprehend my character, temperament, dreams, hopes, and skills.
Thank the Lord, enabling God to know me is not fairly as tricky nor logistically difficult. The fantastic news is, we have been granted access to God’s presence, any time, any day. His calendar is wide open to us. All we have to do is take time to be quiet just before Him and share our heart with a plain and uncomplicated prayer, like this one…
I really feel like I know You mainly because I am conscious of Your Word. Although I can recite passages, I am fearfully conscious that that does not presume intimacy with You.
So I ask You these days: please get to know me. I know You are prepared, for You make that clear on every single web page of the Bible:
“Call to me, and I will answer you and inform you terrific and unsearchable points you do not know” Jeremiah 33:three.
You invitation stands open indefinitely. Now, I want to sit at Your feet and let You know me. I will share my heart with You and ask that You share Yours.
I will not bring my list of points I have to have or want from You. I just want You to know me.
Teach me to be identified by You. As I develop in this understanding, I think You will enrich my life in techniques I never ever dreamed. Thank You in advance, dear Lord, dear pal.
